I was also getting complete system freezes needing a forced restart. These seemed to stop after I removed ALL the files associated with both of these apps and I remove a com.apple.Coregraphics.plist which must have been corrupted.
I also tried the ProTV beta drivers with TV Studio but TV Studio kept telling me that "a firewire device was not connected" then it would quit.
