It was worth the $75 I paid for a pre-flashed PC Radeon 7000. I would
probably have paid the $120 a new one costs here if I'd known how much
of an impact it would have ahead of time.

> How better than internal (onboard) video ?

Depends on the application. Anything that can use OpenGL including most
video players are outstanding... Quicktime goes from "postage stamp is
mostly viewable, occasional dropouts" to "quarter screen is pretty smooth".

Straight Quartz graphics are a mixed bag. Mostly slight to significant
improvements. A lot of GUI elements like menus seem to be accelerated.
Compositing does seem to be sped up somewhat.

A few (very few) apps that seem to write directly into a bitmap are slower
and jerkier, I assume because they're going from 50 MHz 64-bit memory to
33 MHz 32-bit memory.

Overall, 'millions of colors' is a lot smoother than 'thousands' on the
internal video.

The "idle" CPU overhead about doubles.

I have edited the file to enable QE but I haven't been bold enough to pull
the trigger yet. :)

I have relatives in Portugal and Africa, not Brazil that I know of.
