I have a 7600 at work, and when the HDD (an older model SCSI IBM
Deskstar) is off (ie: in sleep mode), the rest of the machine makes
virtually no noise at all. You could probably swap out the power supply
fan for a "low noise" fan and get it even quieter.

Your best bet is to put the computer somewhere else if possible. (ie:
in another room, or in a sound-dampening enclosure of some kind. Mind
your airflow tho!)
