Remember that the wireless is only 11M, barely fast enough to handle one beige box at full blast. It doesn't sound like your network is geing to require all that much in the way of hot hardware... just about anything you can get that can run OS X and your apps at all should be ample as far as network services go. I would go with a switch for the core just because they're so cheap, there's no point trying to pare pennies there... I got an 8-port 10/100 switch for $24 at a sale just before Xmas. If the 9600 is a file server you might still think about getting a 10/100 card: speeding up file service speeds up everything, and even if everything that talks to it is 10M it would still be able to serve multiple 10M connections faster than it could with a single 10M port. If money is a concern, there's a a lot of Realtek based PCI ethernet cards that work with Realtek's OS X drivers. They're extremely cheap (Hawking was throwing them in as freebies with every 5 port 10/100 switch for a while), so if it doesn't work you're out ten bucks... and you can probably sell it to a PC-using friend and get your money back. -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
