Try starting in verbose mode and write down the last few lines before the
freeze. Then we can figure out what's up.

When I tried to install Panther on my 9500 I had to use XPF 3.10 as 3.11
would cause freezes. After the install I could upgrade. I'm now up to 3.15.
I start with throttle at 4 and l2 cache off.
