Hello! I am recieving a Beige G3 300mhz/256mb/4gb/zip/24xcd. I wanted to know if it supports OSX, and if it could possibly support Panther. And if so, would I need to use XPOST FACTO or will they install by themeselves. The machine will also have to boot into OS9. Thanks for your help! ~ Ben ~
OS X 10.2.x will install natively onto the Beige G3s. You will need XPF 3 to install 10.3 Panther. Either way I would highly recommend adding at least another 256MB of RAM and you will definitely have to upgrade the HD to successfully use OS X. Also, because of the amount of time required to boot OS X, I would recommend looking at what software you are using that will require you to boot into OS 9 and see if either you can run it in Classic under OS X or upgrade/replace it to something that will run natively under X.
