similar to other post,
you will need an additional audio card...
ive got an Audiomedia III
running Protools LE 5.1.2 in os 9.1
in a PM8600 g4800mhz, 1gb ram
with atto psc scsi pci card
( i recommend os 9.1 over os x)
SCSI is the way to go in my opinion...
but im old school.

the AMIII card also works under
os X up to 6.2.1 (the latest revision
of PTLE6.x.x does not work with AMIII)
however, i found i hardware limitations
using OSX and Protools, so it is not
worth it to me to run in OSX with my
current system.

i recommend the AMIII card because
you can buy the os9.1 and osx software
upgrades relatively cheaply.. $50-70
However you must insure yr AMIII card
has the right revision to run a G4
processor if you are going to run
this situation... see digidesign specs
on AMIII for more information. AMIII
cards run about $100-150 on ebay.

I expect you may run into similar hdwr limitations
running the 8500 or 7500. But sounds
like you are a MIDI guy and PTLE 5.2.1 is
not the greatest app for this kind of
work... dont know what others recommend

a users forum can be searched..im sure this
question has come up.. at
duc.digidesign.com

of course feeding audio into the AMIII or
other card may require mics, preamps, etc...
so theres more to it than just software and
a card.
