I've got a bunch of computers that have seemed to slow down a lot since the 10.3.6 update. I got looking through the log files and the NetInfo logs seem to show a bunch of error messages that begin on Nov.6th, the same day I upgraded these machines to 10.3.6. The messages all say:

<Date> <Time> localhost lookupd[###]: NetInfo connection failed for server 127.0.0.1/local

where<Date>&<Time> are the actual date and time of the failure to connect, and ### is one of these #'s:
118, 119, 126, 220, 221, 224, 226, 228, 247 & 254.

If you're not using Netinfo for directory service, make sure that it isn't turned on in Directory Access (in the Utilities folder)

In fact, you can probably turn of most of those...if you don't browse for network resources, you can turn them all off. They don't turn off the services, just the service discovery, see Help in Directory Access for more info.
