i'd be interested in knowing what kind of modeling you'll be doing. i'd like to use cache or mopac eventually for some uv/vis prediction of bulk solids, also very processor intensive! if cost is an issue, i suspect a fast g4 will suffice though it will obviously be slower, and see if that application can take advantage of dual processors before deciding to get a dual processor machine. i'd also recommend the ccl list, email me off list and i'll forward info, i'm subscribed to it under a different email address so it isn't handy.
