Sure. When you open XPostFacto, you get the main screen with a list of disks in your system, a choice to restart in OS X or OS 9, etc. Below the radio buttons to choose the OS to boot into, is the Helper menu. It will list any valid boot disks.

Make sure you have some version of OS X installed on an extra disk, or another partition. Nothing fancy, just need a working copy of OS X. I used Jaguar when I tried it, not sure if earlier versions will work as well for installing Panther, but probably would be fine. Anyway, once you have another copy set up, choose the helper disk you want to use from the Helper menu, save the settings and then begin the installation of Panther like normal. It should successfully do the reboot that comes in the middle of the installation process.

The helper disk has a full set of OS X files, so I think all it does is supply any that are missing or not properly loaded in the half-complete Panther installation(don't quote me on that, though). Once you have Panther fully installed you shouldn't need the helper disk anymore.

This sounds like the same problem I had first try at installing
Panther. Spent good amount of the day trying all sorts of things. I
eventually tried the option in XPF to use a support disk at boot time(I
copied Jaguar to another drive) and that got it installed perfectly.

I'd love to try this one. Can you give me a few more details, Please?
