There is no way I'd spend money on an upgrade to 400 or 500 MHz.
It wouldn't make a difference. On the other hand, if I found
someone with a low profile 256 MB PC66/PC100 module for a
reasonable price then I'd grab that.
I wouldn't say that it won't make a difference. I'll concede that
putting money into Wallstreet upgrades can quickly become a fool's
errand, but a 400 MHz upgrade (like this one from Wegener Media:
http://www.wegenermedia.com/wllst400.htm) will definitely give a 233
or 266 PDQ new legs...and for a total cost of $122 is worth
considering.
I've always had good service and compatibility from Data Memory
Systems, <http://www.datamem.com> They want $44 for that memory
right now:<http://www.datamem.com/viewcat.asp_Q_C_E_1099>
I'll second that recommendation. They'll make sure you get the right
RAM for your system, and will take care of any problems like
yesterday. A few weeks ago I got their 512 MB for Wallstreet bundle
for $88; very worthwhile upgrade if you're running on 128 or less.
One of the chips gave Wally indigestion and they Priority Mailed a
replacement right away...I didn't have to return the bad RAM first.
Class operation.
