Rev. Matthew Harrison - “Liturgy & The Youth” (2011)
- In this video from 1995 the Rev. Matthew Harrison speaks to a group of
pre-seminary students attending
Concordia University, River Forest (now Concordia University, Chicago) while at
a retreat concerning the importance of the liturgy in the life and spiritual
formation of our youth. This short presentation, though several years old, is
just as applicable this day as it was when Pastor Harrison first gave the
presentation.
A quote from Pr. Harrison’s presentation: “With well-intentioned zeal to set
our youth on the firm foundation of Christ, we’ve been taking from them with
one hand the very thing we’ve been so striving to give them with the other. In
calling our youth to serious repentance and faith and discipleship we have been
using means which have totally trivialized these deep verities.”
