+ Information for Confess And Teach For Unity's eList Subscribers +

You may have noticed a bit of an increase in emails through this list from
Repristination Press. There are a couple of reasons for this, and every
Confessional Lutheran everywhere should be ecstatic to see this happening.

First, we should all rejoice in the fantastic deals being offered us on
outstanding theological works. In the past couple of weeks, the sale on
Gerhard's "An Explanation of the History of the Suffering and Death of Our Lord
Jesus Christ" was a very timely offer, as every Lutheran (and, especially,
every pastor) ought to consider this required reading during Lent. At the same
time, the sale on David Chytraeus's (a contributor to the Formula of Concord)
"A Summary of the Christian Faith" is the sort of thing one ought to have been
reading before this "time appointed for the teaching of the Catechism" known as
Lent. Chytraeus helps us reign in some radicalism within 'our own camp' with
regard to what is or is not 'authentically Lutheran', and is both a good look
into the pedagogy of a late-Reformation father and a 'companion volume', in a
sense, to Chemnitz's "Examination of the Council of Trent" with regard to
certain issues.

Second, a part of the reason for offering these discounts and generating
revenue *now* is that Repristination Press has so many projects 'in the pipe'
right now that could be gotten out to us all if the case were there to enable
this to happen. Things that RP used to publish are ready to be reprinted, and
completely new additions to the catalogue are ready to roll, as well. ***The
book you buy today paves the way for the book you'll want to buy tomorrow.***

When you look at the prices of Repristination Press books, it is amazing that
they have kept them so *low.* There is work to be done even on reprinting an
old English book, but when you consider the need to pay translators, etc., for
the production of newly-translated works, it is amazing that this little
publishing house consistently brings things out to us for less than the bigger
'Lutheran' publishers--and those nuggets of gold RP delivers come without the
revenue-generating dross of the others.

Some may think, "Repristination Press? That's not run by my church body; who
are they?" 'Who they are' is the publisher of essential Lutheran works that
other publishers won't touch, due to low potential sales or synodico-political
ramification...a true independent Lutheran publisher that is committed to
Lutheran orthodoxy.

It is for these reasons (and more that I'll wish I had included after I hit
send) that this list welcomes a 2-3 times per week message from Repristination
Press and *strongly encourages you* to buy all that they offer, so that you
have a well-rounded and thoroughly Lutheran education, that you may be
strengthened always in the true teaching of God's Word.

A blessed Lententide to you,

EJG
