Can I get some feedback from anyone who has installed this?

If one of my customers asks about a form builder I'll definitely point
them your way and give this a go.
Well speak of the devil and look who appears!
One of my client needs a more-complicated-than-average online form,
ideally that'll spit out a pdf, send an email to the site owners and
client, and enter information into the database. Not only is it a
hosting customer, I'm working on their website too, and since the client
probably won't be able to figure out how to build the form, I'm also the
end user. So I just downloaded it and am going through setup right
now. I'm wearing a few hats, and have done my fair share of QA (be
forewarned: at least one programmer I've QA'd for hates me), so you'll
get perspectives from all. Aren't you lucky? :-)
- readme.txt - Documentation is king, this readme is a court jester.
Version numbers, system requirements, basic install steps, change logs,
etc. would be helpful.
- An install.php to config the conf.php and set up the database would be
nice. You've just cut out a pretty hefty chunk of potential users who
don't know how to set up databases and are afraid to touch config files.
- What's with the extra conf.php~ ? A sample I suppose? Do you really
want your users to have to guess what's going on or could you add a few
extra lines to the readme?
- *Fatal error*: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: sys_lock in
*/home/pjronlin/public_html/formbuilder/index.php* on line *25
*- Figuring I may have failed to configure something beside the database
in the conf.php (Again, setup steps in the readme, or a link to setup
steps, would be handy), I copied my DB info over to your conf.php~ ,
deleted my conf.php and renamed your copy to mine. That took care of
that error but now I have this:
*- Fatal error*: Call to a member function on a non-object in
*/home/pjronlin/public_html/formbuilder/includes/functions.php* on line *509
- *Guessing I must be missing something but having no idea what, I am
uninstalling at this point and wishing again I could have seen it in
action first so I could decide whether it's worth the trouble.
- Noticing Fantastico comes with phpFormGenerator - Clicking "New
installation", specifying a directory name, clicking 'Finish
Installation' - building the form now and seeing how it looks. I think
my cilent could almost handle building this form on his own. But I'm
sure there are other reviews out there for phpFormGenerator, so I'll
stop here.
Hoping it helps.
