I would recommend against that. That would be bad for usability. There
are standards for a reason. Many people don't even use those buttons.

browsers and navigate (back and forward) entirely with the keyboard.
I completely agree. My thinking was that, given the venue e.g.; closed
intranet site, if it is possible to control the user base, it might be
handy but I concur with your sentiments completely in a larger environment.
