If we borrow Sakai's semantics "contrib" could be production-code  
that's currently being run at one institution -- e.g. UW or Rutgers  
mods vs. a sandbox for really experimental code not being run  
anywhere yet.

Maybe this would make pushing code into shared source control  
simpler, and increase our velocity of adopting enhancements pioneered  
at individual institutions.
