Eric, I have found that if I wait for 30 minutes and the user session times out, i.e. uPortal automatically logs off the current user, the channel appears in the list once logged in again.
Is there a cache control for the system in a properties file I can adjust. If so could I simply adjust that setting for only one portlet class? I believe I am close to figuring this out. If I can only find or code around the system to force the channel update. I'd have it. Thanks again for all of your help.
