So this library is the basis for JSR-310 (the new date/time API for JDK8) and the primary author is the spec lead for the JSR. There is even a side project that provides Hibernate bindings so we can use these types in our persistent beans and a quick search makes it appear that they can be used with @RequestParameter in Spring MVC controllers.

Great, I'll switch to using JodaTime for event aggregation, yay for an immutable DateTime class!
