I think this is something we would be very interested in. Under full load, we have been seeing CPU usage higher than we believe it should be. I haven't had time to verify yet, but believe it is because of the high amount of portlets on the pages we are displaying and the server having to render them every time for every user. Let us know if this gets implemented, I would like to load test with portlet caches and share results of any improvements this gives on our website.
