West Java gets Sundanese newspaper
BANDUNG, West Java: A group of politicians and veteran journalists in
Bandung are publishing a newspaper in the Sundanese language to stimulate
interest in the language of the major ethnic group in West Java.
Uu Rukmana, chairman of the regional executive board of the Golkar Party's
West Java chapter, announced the newspaper, to be called Koran Sunda (Sundanese
Newspaper), will hit the streets March 20.
Uu, one of the investors for the newspaper and also the director of the
company publishing it, said the newspaper would come out in 16 pages.
West Java is home to over 30 million Sundanese people. -- JP
