Job Title: Cognos Developer with DB2.
Location: Chicago, IL.
Duration: 3+ Months.
*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
- Design, develop, deploy, and support high profile Cognos 8.3-based
reporting systems that help end users access and analyze data across data
warehouses and data marts.
- Work closely with user groups, data architects, database
administrators, application developers, systems administrators and testing
teams; and perform other duties as assigned.
- Design documentation for custom Cognos Reports and Dashboards
- Working implementation of custom Cognos Reports and Dashboards
- Documentation specifying the proper maintenance and testing of custom
Cognos Reports and Dashboards
- Chicago location although limited travel may be required.
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS: *
- Deep hands-on experience (Series 8, Report Studio, Query Studio,
Framework Manager, Cognos Connection, Event Studio, Metric Studio, Analysis
Studio) with the Cognos reporting tool suite as both a developer and
administrator;
- Deep experience designing star schemas, cubes, metadata and drill-thru
reports;
- Deep database optimization and SQL tuning experience with DB2/UDB V9;
- Experience in leveraging Cognos Security and the Software Development
Kit (SDK) to customize reports and Web-based GUIs using JAVA;
- Experience with Ab Initio;
- Experience with the Rational Unified Process and associated SDLC
technologies (i.e., ClearCase, ClearQuest, ReqPro, Rose and SODA);
- Experience with the AIX Operating System;
- Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills;
- A degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent work
experience.

*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
- Design and incrementally implement an extensible application
development framework that provides a customized set of capabilities which
extend the default functionality available in Cognos 8.3.
- Develop custom Web applications, using this framework, that improve
product development cycle time, quality and consistency.
- Design documentation for an extensible application development
framework (ADF) based on the Cognos 8.3 SDK
- Working implementation releases of the custom ADF
- Documentation specifying the proper use, extension, maintenance, and
testing of the ADF
- Working implementation of a custom Web application or Cognos
Connection-based application using the ADF
- Documentation specifying the proper use, extension, maintenance, and
testing of the application
- Chicago location although limited travel may be required.
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS:*
- Deep experience with the Cognos 8.3 SDK, the object model, and the
development of customer facing Web applications
- Deep experience with Cognos Connection
- Deep Experience with J2EE development
- Experience with Web Services development
- Experience with the Rational Application Developer IDE a plus
- Experience with the Rational Unified Process and associated SDLC
technologies (i.e., ClearCase, ClearQuest, ReqPro, Rose and SODA);
- Experience with, JUnit, JSP, Struts, Hibernate, Spring, etc.
- Experience with the AIX Operating System and DB2/UDB V9 a plus
