Areas of oversight include Data Architecture, Solutions Design, and Data Modeling Support within the IT Data Warehouse group. Responsibilities include leadership, technical oversight, and overall architectural guidance as well as solid execution of data architecture and data analysis activities related to project initiatives. This role participates on multiple, technically complex, mission-critical, and/or high-profile data projects or initiatives simultaneously. This individual must possess strong project leadership skills including primarily the ability to make sound data architectural recommendations. This role must have a passion for providing 'best practices' and data solutions to meet the data needs of our business. Essential Job Functions: " Management of Data Management and Data Warehousing areas including: Data Architecture, Data Analysis, Solutions, Deployment, and Support. " Responsible for managing detailed data analysis and translating business requirements into enterprise level data architectures. " Helps develop Data Management and Data Warehouse strategic direction for the department. " Serves as a liaison between the business experts/users and the project technical team to ensure the users requirements are understood and interpreted correctly by the technical team. " Ability to manage and participate as a senior Data Analyst gathering of source systems, processing logic, content and operational system usage. " Bridges gaps across business areas, operational business units, and Data Warehouse development teams. " Experience in capturing and presenting all levels of Enterprise Metadata " Manages teams of 4-10+ on/off-shore staff in day to day development and operations. " Applies broad in depth retail business and technical knowledge to establish direction. " Assesses readiness of technical solutions and hardware including systems, tools, technologies, and processes. " Recommends, and enforces data and technical solutions, standards, and governance. " Oversees documentation for the program or project and other technical deliverables. " Stays current in new technologies as well as new opportunities to develop knowledge and staff. " Full life cycle experience in Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, Data Integration, and Master Data Management. " Excellent understanding of a solution's architectural principles, data integration, and data warehousing. " Evaluates various technologies as related to Data Management, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, and Data Integration. Job Requirements: " Manages mixed teams of on/off shore of 4-10+ resources in day to day development and operations. " Manages, and mentors technical staff whose support is needed to build and/or deploy Data Management and Data Warehouse solutions. " Helps develop Data Management and Data Warehouse strategic direction for the department. " Oversees multiple large complex projects with cross functional teams and business. " Oversees the technical architecture, data model, and documentation of all projects. " Defines and estimates project proposals and creates technical project plans and staffing models. " Secures, request, tracks, and in some cases maintains funding. " Responsible for identifying project costing, technical gaps, communications, and risk mitigation. " Ensures the appropriate program/project staffing and planning is obtained " Defines and ensures standards for technology and business process are established. " Leads complex technical discussions on data modeling, data integration, and overall technology solutions and design. " Able to technically challenge staff on complex designs to insure "best practice". " Serves as primary point of contact for customers and other organizations to resolve Data Management and Data Warehouse issues. " Evaluates various technologies as related to advanced data warehousing tools and components. " Excellent communication (written and verbal). Qualifications: " 15+ years overall IT leadership " 10+ years - Enterprise Data Architecture, Solutions Designing, Data Analysis and BI solutions delivery " 6+ years - Deploying Enterprise models across complex environments (both physical and logical) " 6+ years - Expert skills in development and documentation of complex Enterprise Data Warehouse data sourcing and transformation requirements. " 6+ years - Expert skills in conducting Data Analysis, Data Profiling and Data Discovery on disbursed operational source systems. " 5+ Years of Teradata " 5+ Years of Retail Experience and Solid understanding of Teradata Retail Model " 6+ years of overall leadership and management of teams of 4-10+ resources. " 6-8 years - MPP Database experience but not limited to Netezza, Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2 " 6-8 years - Leading technical project efforts including project planning, design, build, test, and data conversion/migration as well as report design and builds " 4-6 years - Data Architecture: application, reporting frameworks, processing, availability and scalability " 4-6 years - Translating business and technical requirements into a solid technical design and solution to include architecture diagrams and design documents for a multi-client environment " 4-6 years - Advanced skills in using the 3 or more of the following modeling techniques: MDM, ERD, Temporal, Generic & Reusable, or Time-variant, 3rd Normal Form, 4th Normal Form, Column aggregations " 4-6 years - BI-Solutions: Architecture, Design and Development of data marts, business semantic views and reporting models " 4-6 years - Erwin, ETL, PL/SQL, SQL, XML, or other development language " 3+ years of data integration architecture understanding and architecture skills leveraging tools but not limited to IBM Data Stage, Informatica and/or Ab Initio " Develop overall strategic data architecture direction and provide a comprehensive road map for the Enterprise Data Warehouse. " Advanced Enterprise Development Methodology and oversight of complete SDLC and/or IDLC for complex projects " Advance technical understanding and knowledge of tools and products used in Enterprise Data Warehousing and data integration: Oracle, DB2, Netezza, Teradata, SQL Server, and/or UNIX in a distributed environment utilizing MPP, SMP, SOA, WOA, MDM, CDI and/or BUS architecture for enterprise data volumes (10TB+) " Understand advanced architectural principles of Enterprise Data Warehousing including retail framework, modeling concepts and architectural principles applied to Enterprise Data Warehousing " Ability to create robust, scalable, sustainable data architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion given budgetary constraints and availability of data and skilled resources " Responsible for architecture, development, updates to data models, including physical and logical to meet new and changing business requirements " Develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata and data-linage for all Enterprise Data Warehousing components " Experienced in using various types of dimension hierarchies: classification, construction, and variation including the creation & deployment of star and snowflake schema and in-depth and full life cycle experience in Enterprise Data Warehousing life cycle " Expert ability to work as the IT and Business liaison to translate requirements into model designs " Estimates design capacity and costing efforts to meet near-and long-term design requirements " Identifies current and emerging technologies that define by 'Best Practice'. " Expert level communication, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills, problem solving and analytic skills " Expert understanding of business application or product being developed " Expert design/coding skills, testing methodologies and techniques " BS/MS/MBA/MA degree, applicable certifications or equivalent experience required.
