Position: MySQL DBA Location: Seattle, WA Duration: 6-12 Months Responsibilities: . Design and document database architecture . Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases . Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions . Set up data sharing and replication . Develop database utilities and automated reporting . Create shell scripts for task automation . Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements . Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency . Monitor systems and platforms for availability. . Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover . Restore and recover corrupted databases . Install and test upgrades and patches . Implement security and encryption . Provide 24/7 support for critical situations . Evaluate and recommend new database technologies Qualifications: . A Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent. Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education . 6+ years experience as a DBA in a Unix/Linux environment maintaining production databases . Hands-on experience administering commercial large-enterprise databases such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server . Proven ability in managing databases of 1+ TB in size. . Experience with advanced replication techniques . Strong SQL skills Preferred: . Knowledge of Ruby, Rails, and Java . Experience with NoSQL technologies . Experience with sharding relational databases . Experience with cloud services, e.g. Amazon AWS .
