*Technical/Functional Skills *:
· Strong analytical, problem determination and resolution skills.
· Solid understanding of data warehousing, MPP and large-scale data
management issues and concepts.
· Solid understanding of physical database design and online
production support requirements for the Netezza database environment.
· Familiarity and experience with 3GL languages commonly used to
connect with Netezza (i.e. JDBC, ODBC, etc.)
· Strong development experience in Netezza, using Netezza SQL,
procedures
· Strong knowledge of performance tuning of queries to work
appropriately with Netezza. Understanding of the various performance tuning
levers to use in Netezza.
· Experience of reading and analyzing the system performance of
Netezza and ability to relate it to ongoing processes and identify problems
due to inefficient query/job design
· Experience as a warehousing database designer working with the
Netezza product line.
· Good interpersonal organizational and people communication
skills, as well as solid writing and oral communication skills.
· Demonstrate knowledge of Data Modeling and Data Normalization
techniques.
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
· Ability to prepare, present oral and written reports,
presentations, and recommendations and to perform necessary research or
investigations
· Ability to accept high level assignments and work with limited
supervision and guidance
· Excellent work history and attendance record

*Experience Required*:
· 5+ years of development experience in Netezza base database
projects.
· 1 - 3 years experience in database administration (preferred)
*Roles & Responsibilities*:
· Constructing and/or optimizing physical database designs tailored
for the Netezza information warehousing database environment in support of
various strategic application development initiatives.
· Supporting application development timelines by reviewing and
assisting in the implementation of designs and/or incremental changes to
database definitions.
· Gathering query, CPU & Disk resource requirements for new
applications and extensions to existing systems.
· Guiding various application development and support teams on the
optimized usage of Netezza environment, through efficient and tuned
queries, appropriate use of distribution keys and other performance
improvement levers.
· Reviewing complex queries and analyzing the resource usage for
the same and performance tuning of the same.
· Identifying advanced features of Netezza, Netezza SQL and Netezza
tools that can be used by application teams to improve the overall
utilization of Netezza’s capabilities. Sending regular updates to various
teams, as newer features are available with the upgrades.
