I wonder if the situation would be better or worse if the subject field were at the bottom, as the usual thought after completing a message is not "hmm, how would I summarize this message" but rather "it's done, where's the send button". And asking for it specifically after send (like a dialog) is pretty much asking for it[1]. [1] Sorry for the pun, it was asking for it[2]. [2] I'll stop this time for real.
