Well, the theme /begins/ to change within a second, and all controls are still available throughout the change, so instant apply is still acceptable. My interpretation of the guideline[1] is "don't use instant apply if the action is going to block input to one or more applications for more than a second, because you'd normally show an explicit progress indicator for actions that do that, and progress indicators in an instant apply dialog would suck" :) Cheeri, Calum.
