This may have something to do with the switch and how it interfaces with the
NIC. I have the same problem when connected to a Netgear WiFi router used as an
ethernet switch. It works perfectly when connected to a DLink 1Gb switch.
What kind of switch is it connected to? Have you tried a different switch?
