Andrew,

I use Ben Fabers stuff all the time. It requires that the device be Audio compliant. Meaning it should show up in the System Preferences as an Audio Input/Output device or in the Audio Midi settings.

You would be better off using an nice audio ADC converter. Depending on your needs I could send you some that I have worked on.

Thanks,
Gordon

Subject: National Instruments USB Device not showing in list of
        available devices

Hi all,

This is a bit of a pre-emptive email while I try to contact National
Instruments. I have a USB-6008 multi I/O USB device; Supplies 8 of analog I/O
or 8 of digital I/O. If I plug the device in I can see that Mac OS X (10.10)
picks it up from the system report. Unfortunately when I try to access this
device from Faber Acoustics SignalScope the option to use it as an input device
doesn’t show. I have used the generic apps supplied with the device from NI and
these work But I guess they are working directly with the device rather than
through a Device Interface.

I’m trying to understand how to develop a USB device interface but the
documentation isn’t the most obvious source of information. What I want to do
with this device is to take two analog inputs (essentially audio pickups) and
trace them using Faber’s SignalScope. I believe that I should be writing a USB
Device Interface so that it shows up in SignalScopes Input device list??? If
not I would appreciate a redirection. If my logic IS correct where do I start??

I have looked at the USB PlugIn sample from Apple but I don’t understand how
you expose the device correctly. By simply adding the Product and Device ID’s
(taken from the system report) does this mean that all the USB device is
exposed?? I’m thinking not… so How do I do this? NI supply some rudimentary
access code written in C/C++ with the device. Should I be looking to use the
access functions from this code in the Device Interface code?

Hope this isn’t too basic a set of questions!!

Kindest Regards

Andrew
