It depends on the image. If the image has a lot of detailed and mixed contrast, 
Marty's approach may be the best. However, if there is a dark area or light 
area, you want your type to be a decent contrast of that. A drop shadow on the 
text should work fine. I'm pretty sure you can apply a drop shadow to a field 
in such a way that the text itself has a drop shadow.
