Yeah, that's exactly my beef with TM - the backup drive is chugging along continuously, and the backups never end no matter how many exceptions I put into the folder list. But it's the backup drive that's running continuously, not the mac's disk. I think it's the process of removing old artifacts and replacing them with new ones that's taking all the time.
