Hi Michael, You are correct. In HyperCard, only a portion of a stack (the current card?) is loaded in RAM at any one time...thus the constant updating to disk & the need to occasionally "compact" (basically write a fresh, non-fragmented copy of) a stack. The MetaCard engine loads the entire stack in RAM when it is opened, and writes a fresh copy out when it is saved; thus compacting is not required. -- Rob Cozens CCW, Serendipity Software Company http://www.oenolog.com/who.htm "And I, which was two fooles, do so grow three; Who are a little wise, the best fooles bee." from "The Triple Foole" by John Donne (1572-1631) _______________________________________________ use-revolution mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution
