Believe me, it's not that I'm unaware of the argument for expanding platform support, I would looove to write Rev apps and run them on iPhones...

It's just that companies that do well know how to *focus* on one small niche and do it better than anyone else. (Until they get really big, I guess...)

I have been privileged to consult with the developers of Final Cut Pro software since 1.0 beta, and every rev, they ask me about 500 new features they want to add, and I tell them "Core functions! Core functions!"

"Don't make it do more, make it do what it already does better."

Only half joking, I've been telling the team for 9 years their ad campaign for the next version should be:

"FCP 7: NO NEW FEATURES! (But all the features that were there before now work perfectly, better and faster!)"

(An odd coincidence that Snow Leopard promises "no new features!" :-)
