Trevor Devore explained a while back that Apple has significantly restricted video playback to iTunes and QuickTime only. I don't believe anyone has found a workaround for this limitation. However, protected audio playback works -- Rev's player should play protected audio files without any limitation (as long as QT is installed and your machine is authorized to play the selected files).
