Just in case you are working on this this morning...
I thought I'd report the negative number problem with baseConvert. I looked into it. There are some bugs in baseConvert() for full 32 bit. I'll let you know when I get details. I think if you use this, you will not only get negative numbers, you will get very bad ones.
