While it's possible to test on one machine and code on another, such a workflow is inherently less productive.
Only if you actually end up needing to debug something specific to the non-development platform. Revolution isn't a perfect cross-platform solution, but it is very good. If the need for platform-specific debugging is lessened, the need for cross-platform development is similarly lessened.
