Rob,
How are you moving the files?
I have found that using these otherwise wonderful flash card USB devices tend 
to strip the resource fork off files (especially when copying to them in 
classic).
If this is the problem, try using a crossover cable or, if both computers 
have firewire start one of them in target disk mode (restart it with the "T" key 
down, it will come up with the firewire symbol floating around the screen, the 
other computer will recognize it as just another firewire hard drive, when 
finished restart the target to turn it back into a computer again).
