Log out - no good here but restart worked.
That codec needed a restart.
Wow, I haven't had to do that in awhile. I think this is the first time I've had to restart my mac in four months.

To Dan Shafer: Suggestions for part 2 and or 3 of the book: detailed information (with photos) on use of debugging tools, esp. TRACE and similar info on geometry manager. I know Ch 22 (per text in book 1) will have info on debugging but I don't know what that will consist of).
