Rob,

It may help you to know that..

The euro character is unicode 20AC (in hex)
It looks like your paste results in a double byte
byte 1 = ascii 32 (hex 20)
byte 2 = ascii 172 (hex AC)

The htmltext probably reads €

The behaviour of chartonum faced with this 2 byte character is "innaresting".
