Hi,

I can't BZ it cos I'm working away in wilds of Kent and I can't log on for some reason.

Do you really think it's worth reporting it? I mean nothing else ever seems to get fixed, so really what's the point. I know about it now and have protected myself by making "Move" and "Rename" functions that do all the checking the base command should do.

In the documentation it says:
Caution! This command can be used to rename or move files and folders your stack did not create. Of course, a stack should not rename or move files and folders it didn't create without obtaining explicit confirmation from the user.
However it doesn't say *anything* about overwriting files!

I'll vote for that enhancement request for the docs.
What's the BZ# of the request you filed?

You can check the existence of a file with the "there is" operator:

if there is a file tMyFile then
