Hello Stefan, Matthias and Daniel,

Many thanks for your extensive step by step help, I tried it all. It turns out that to copy, mirror and merge an SDS object with (weighted) UV sets is not a very straighforward job, but it can be done.
I started it as a "lets see how far I can get" project so the result is less important than the learning process. Still, I'm fairly satisfied with it. Have a look at www.bueter.nl/frog if you're interested . The VSL shaders in the project file rely heavily on Realsoft's "Harry" tutorial.

How I went about:

- Remove all materials from the UV sets
- Copy and mirror the SDS object with the UV sets (view window, object mode)
- Flip the normals of the SDS copy (view window, face edit mode)
- Merge the SDS original and the copy (view window, object mode)
- Merge the original and copy of the UV set (UV window, object mode). The copy of the UV set will get mirrored automatically
- Flip the normals of the copied half of the UV set (UV window, face edit mode)
- Join faces of UV set (UV window, can't remember which mode, probably object mode)
- Join faces of the SDS object (view window, face edit mode)
- Reset all to object mode and add materials to the SDS object and UV set

Some findings:

- Dup-Mir would be the perfect tool for this if only it would copy and mirror the underlying UV sets with the SDS object.
- When an SDS object with a UV set is duplicated and mirrored in the view window the UV sets are duplicated too, but not mirrored. Mirroring happens when the 2 UV set original and copy are merged.

Thanks again and happy rendering,

Frank Bueters
