Hi Guys,

I have a Win XP PRO PC, P4 2.8 HT with a 3DLabs Wildcat VP560 Vid Card.

Recently I have noticed RS crashing a little more, particularly but not exclusively, on one file I am working on:

http://www.tidalsound.com/3dstuff/sun_scene_ship2.jpg

with the following error popping up:

"setpixelformat (failed) 183
error: r3dcogl: 1855
set pixel format failed
Error: R3opengl:315"

Here is a small screen shot of part of the error box and what the view window looks like when it happens:

Along with the error the same file opens up / loads - whole view area goes white. Image comes back for a second, goes again, then comes back in parts again until it is complete. If at this point one tries to rotate the scene - it will not do so for about 15 seconds. I stripped out all the shader mappings one by one and reloaded the file to see which was causing - if any - the problem. I got to a simple shader for the ship - plane colour and a bit of specularity [ vsl shader ] - removed this and things improved considerably.

At this stage I started a new file rebuilt the scene with the individual components and so far - without recreating that simple ship shader all is well, though this error popped up once only with this new file.

Just curious - anyone else have this? Any ideas?

Cheers
Aidan
