Hi David..
A workaround, since the 'Parallel' Tool cant be
applied to several curves at once...
My old one using the Lattice Mapping system dont
work now.. =(.. Mapping a copy of each curve to its own original, and then set
the 'Translation z' Field of the 'Lattice Space' in 'Gen' Tab... (now it
displace the copy curve in odd ways.. =( not as it should .. and used to
before..
So another of my old workarounds I used, comes
here, that still works.. using the 'Extrude' Tool with the 'Bevel' option as
an intermediate step..
1.Select the Font Curves
2. In 'Controlbar' use the 'Extrude' Tool, set
the options as follows, 'Bevel Type' --> Round (or whatever suits you), tic
the 'No Lids' and adjust the 'Radius' slider until you see in the view a
distance you think should be between your curves.. Accept the
Tool...
3. In 'Select' Window, open up the 'Extrude'
level and inside it open the created sub levels and find and select the Mesh
objects (4 when creating CAT)
4. In 'Controlbar' click the arrow of the
'Curves' button and select the 'U Curves' option, RS now creates abit extra
curves than you need..
5. In 'Select' Window, select the 'Extrude'
level, and delete it, or just set it to WF and RT invisible (to get those out
of the way)
6. In 'View' Window, dragselect the outer curves
of the C, and those (4) curves will be shown selected in the 'Select'
Window.
7. Hold down (Alt Key) and click on the first of
those 4 curves, to UNselect that, then press (Delete Key) to delete
the not needed extra curves..
8. Do the same for the Inner curves of the C and
the rest of the letters.. =).. (computers and sw really should do these
types of manual repetitive stuff....=)
BegEdit: (you can ofcourse delete ALL
extra Outer curves...since we already have the Original curves.. which
speed up the process a tiny bit..) thought of that after writing my
steps..=)
Maybe would be useful if the Parallel Tool would
be turned into a 'Contruction' Tool, so it can be Bound to how many objects as
wanted, and then easily be managed...
since its very seldom, at least I, only want to
edit ONE curve at a time..

I'm wanting some inner curves derived from font
Nurbs. The parallel tool provides a quick curve for a letter, but how can I
get uniform inside curves for each letter? Say for example I have the word
'CAT', how can I create curves within the outlines of C, A and T that are
all the same distance from the outside curve?
