Hi Chuck..

Isnt it just to set it to Inches in Prefs (as you mentioned) and then just create a new Grid object called "1 Inch" and set its fields to 1, 1, 1 ?
Now drag n drop this grid to our needed 'View' Windows !
Dont this work for you ?

One thing to note is..
When you created objects, lets say a Cube, The Width and Height are following the grid, but the 'Depth' is created its default 0.1 meters or so, = 3.937 inches
(Or what it was set to for the Inital Metric System)
This Default setting can be changed to whatever, in the File/Preferences/options/Classes/Model/Interactive Tools/Circle or /Multi-point Interactor/Rectangle.
Too bad it seems that you have to change this Default Depth settings, each time you change the Metrics settings.. =(....  (I dont ever use other than Meter and so on as standard.. I have too long feet anyway, cant measure anything with them..maybe big boats....=)

(Maybe there is a way for this to be automated, I dunno)
btw, you can override this Default depth, by using the 'Numeric' Window, and directly put needed depth there when you create the object, or just change it afterwards in the 'Property' Window 'Spec' Tab....

Hope some of this may be of some help..
Also hope I havent understood you wrongly or forgot something important...

Take Care

HI Listers,
After much frustration trying to find all of the settings in the manual for setting the grid to inches and the measuring system to the same, I hope someone can help.

File\Preferences\options\metric\inches  doesn't work for the grid or for the measuring system. I also tried the Properties\grid\properties with the three sliders ... Horiz. Vert. and Normal.  It seems that RS is hostile to the british inch system.

This only became an issue when I tried to export to another (stl) application that I saw the problem. Help please.

Cheers, Chuck Henry
