Great Flash tutorial :-)
Isn't it just! I've just finished my version of it, which I attach. I didn't want the distortions so I didn't do the lattice mapping of the whole eye (yet). I've added a "brushing" mapped to UV to make the eyelid wrinkles bunch a bit when the lids are opened.

Now I don't know which version to use on my cute little animals :-)

One problem I have with using Yra's method is that although the whole eye/lid combination can be copied ok, they cannot be scaled. As soon as you scale them then try to control the lids with the nurbs curves the whole thing goes wild. What have I done now! They are easy to map, however, so the easy solution is to unmap, scale, remap.

And of course I've used your augapfel. Are you the original author of this? It's so cool it should be acknowledged in a comment in the shader.

And thanks to Beg for the link - I missed the post on the forum for some reason.
Will summarize and start an eye animation section on the wiki... later.

Thanks to all
George

Here's my poor completed file and video:

Hi George again..

Here is a simple prj where using Lattice Mapping, of the lids to Nurbs Curves..(same weight for all points...)

Use the Min/Max sliders to control the Eyelids..(Set pose chors for them, and then just animate those Pose chors in keyframer chors..)

Works nicely..

btw.. dunno if yra provided a prj file with his cool eye..
but maybe he has, or will do so..

Hi George...

=) well here is a 3rd way.. that yra showed in a nice flash anim tut.. (a type of workflow that I have also used from time to time)

Here is the thread on the forum..
http://www.3ddart.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=5328&highlight=#5328

and here is a direct link to the flash tut..

btw.. I missed your part of low in this post... just saw it..
Will read it tomorrow.. and if still needed, I will explain it then.. in another post !

Good luck !

Wow two great solutions in one night. I almost feel bad that I spent the night drinking.

I Just fastly deleted the Lattice Mappings (which had some odd extra bindings..shown in the 'Map' Tab), and Bound the SDS eyelids to the bones using the 'Bind Nrst' Tool instead..
(I set some of the SDS points to lower Weight)
(I always use this workflow, when working with Skeletons, much easier..)
(I use Lattice Mapping for many other things, but mostly not when using skeletons ..)
btw..(I am just curious, what workflows others have..)
Any special reason that you used Lattice Mapping and two skeletons per eyelid ?
(and why not the Bind Tools ?)
I used lattice because I didn't think of changing the weights of certain points. I used two skeletons to get a better rotation around the eye - I thought with one the bottom of the eyelid would go through the eye.

I don't follow exacly what you've done - there is a point chor for the sds eyelid as well as a chor. for the skeleton - yes? (What is the icon with 4 arrows pointing away from the centre?) And is there any way to find out what weight you've given to a particular point binding?

I'll look again tomorrow at your solution and Matthias's and decide how to proceed.

Merci infiniment,
George

Didn't add the file...

Hi Matthias

Thanks for trying. I've found the choreorgraphs copy ok but the
bone-bindings to the eyelids have gone missing - or sometimes gone
crazy. It sounds like a problem I've had before when I didn't
immediately write all my mistakes in the wiki, so I've forgotten it.
