Hi Matthew..
Here is one way to do it..
1. In 'Selec' Windows, 4th Tab 'Images' rightclick and choose 'New' from the
popup menu..
2. In 'Select' Window doubleclick the newly created 'Image' and there browse
for your needed Image or Anim file...
3. Press the 'Show' button, this opens a window to show the Image/Anim, and
in its Titlebar shows the Name and after it the resolution ... testanim.avi
400*400
(Step 3 can be used for a fast check of the resolution and aspectratio, for
easier create the rectangle later correctly)
(Maybe would be cool if RS had a function to automatically size/set
aspectratio of the rectangle according to the image...)
4. Create an analytic rectangle, with the correct dimensions....
5. With the rectangle selected, In 'Property' window, 'Col' Tab, tic the
'Image object' of the 'Texture Map' section, and then in the 'Texture'
Field, select your newly created 'Image' file...
6. In the 'Wire' Tab set 'Texture quality' to 128 or what you need...
(You can also set 'Forced visibility' to other than 0, to make your
Reference image/anim to show through your shaded objects in the scene...)
(Or just if you want, set the object(s) your are going to create, to 'No
shading', also that is in the 'Wire' Tab)
7. Just below the 'Select' Window, Open the 'Animation Settings', in its
'Enable' Tab and tic the 'Animate Images'
8. In 'Animation Playback' Window, set the totalframe field to same as your
Reference Animations frames
(Step 7 and 8 you need to do, when using Anims as reference)
Hope this helps out...
and I hope I havent missed something or made errors.. (or misunderstood your
needs..!)
If you wonder about something, just ask..
Take Care

Greetings,
How can I set up simple rotoscoping? Right now I simply need to be able
to view a background image to work with as a reference, but it would also
be nice to be able to use video frames. I have tried setting the image as
the view background, but it scales with the view. I have also tried to
make a material, but again I cannot seem to prevent the mapping from
distorting or resizing the image to match the object (a simple rectangle.)
At the very least I need the image visible in wireframe so I can trace
over parts of it and scale objects to the correct size relative to the
other objects making up the model.
Thanks,
Matthew
