Hi Mark,
Remember that tile material you made a while ago, using two textures and
rotating them to hide pattern repetition?
It's probably not too hard to adjust that for rooftiles...
Yes of course I remember it, I'm using it all the time. Glad to hear you
can
use it too.
Hey Arjo,
Of course: whenever I need tiles it's the first thing I'm thinking of!
Today, I had a chance to observe some real dutch rooftiles while the train I
was sitting in had to halt for a while (later on, loads of passengers were
sent into the wrong trains by the speaker, congratulations dutch railways!).
Anyway: the curves should be rounder and deeper than in my first version.
No it will probably be quite easy, but I find it more interesting to see
if
I can solve it another way. Just to learn some VSL things for myself.
Wise words, I have a tendency to stick with familiar proven methods, which
sometimes inhibits the discovery of new things and expanding the horizon,
especially when deadlines come into play. For my next job, I really have to
explore Input Planes more deeply, the design I'll have to visualize hardly
has any perpendicular planes. Software this deep always seems to contain
tons of 'unexpored territory' ;)
BTW what did you modify in the tiles material? Something that could be
interesting for me too?
Arjo.
I think I uploaded it, but to quote Garry: it may be lost in the void...
Shortly after you shared that material I added tile-specific cracks that
added more irregularity, with the Cellular tool. Works fine but rather
slow - not a real problem unless you combine it with render killers like GI.
Will dig it up tomorrow.
I'm thinking of modifying it more by replacing the textures by procedurals,
the rotation can then be omitted and repetition will completely disappear.
And add the courtesy of a user-friendly interface...
Take care,
Mark H
