Hey Marc,
thank you for your insights regarding RS3D. Actually, I like the look and
image quality of what comes out at the end of the modeling and rendering
process with RS3D. It's really high quality in every way. But on the other
hand I think, a tool should support the artist. I am always forced in RS3D
to think very technically and like a mathematician. I
Hi Markus, Marc,
I'll jump in too to defend poor RS a bit ;)
You have a point, but after all this time I'm so used to RS logical design
that it's hard to get used to other 3d software... the main problems I have
are sluggish large scene handling and lack of complete import/export
options. We'll see how V6 will cope with that.
No tool is perfect for every job, but to me RS is a great allround tool that
can handle almost anything. (admittedly, for example for landscapes or GI
there are specialized tools that beat RS in those specific areas..)
was an RS3D evangelist in the past and told everyone how great this
software is. I always hoped that it gets more easier to cope with it. In
my opinion, it was the other way round. The way how you have to do so many
things is often too much too complicated for me. So, as my
Hmm, to be honest I admit you have a point... the advanced GI temporal
sampling jumps to mind. The tutorial about this is really intimidating ;)
RS should scratch behind their ears if nobody has ever produced a GI
animation using this technique. Too many advanced features are very
inaccessible, but I can do a LOT without them. It's no problem to use RS in
a simple way and be very productive, and it offers enough freedom to dive in
deeper if desired.
interests in rendering went more and more in the direction of landscape
modeling and rendering (a pain in RS3D) i dropped it and touched it never
again. It's here on my computer (V4.5) but last time i have started it was
1.5 or so years ago for a rendering I did for a friend. That was it. I
maybe start again with raytracing in the future, but certainly not with
RS3D.
Ciao,
Markus
Sad indeed...
This thread is another indication that a big injection is needed, to re-fuel
enthusiasm. In other words: V6 must be released this year or this whole
thing will slowly fade away... and it 'd better be a major jump ahead!
my 2 cts,
