Hi Wolfram,

First of all, is this the kind of object you want to achieve?

Not quite; your object has to be cut additionally with a Cylinder at the outer rim (so it ain't symmetrical). And I don't want to model it with nurbs as their mathematical description is too complicated to write a macro which accepts as input only the outer radius of the ring, its height and the radius of (the inner part of) its cross-section. Sorry, but I need a way to model the Torus NOT interactively by using patches or nurbs or
anything like that but by simple geometric entities ;-).....

If so, there seems no need to create it as an analytical as it will have to be a face set in VRML. This object has been created, as Gunnar suggested, with nurbs rotate object. The resulting object has been converted to SDS. The upper and lower faces have been removed.

Arjo.

PS. Do you plan to edit VRML export created with Realsoft?
I use Cortona VRMLPad. I created some scripts for VRMLPad to clean up Realsoft export. That way I could reduce file size with 80% in some cases.
Do I have to buy VRMLPad ? If it's free - wehere dio I get it ? I remember dimly that you mentioned your scripts
a while ago. Can you give more details ?

Thanx for your quick response however..

Wolfram

P.S. Perhaps somebody out there has written a macro to make a Torus out of its radius and the radius of its cross-section (like the Blender people did) or at least somebody of the Realsoft3D staff can point me to a solution using either RPL
or Javascript .
