Thanks, but it seems that I can only get your instructions to work in some cases. It seems to take very little to confuse RS (or me) and have something unexpected happen.
For example, it seems if I draw a curve in one view orientation, then 3D snapping works correctly as long as I stay in that view. But if I rotated the view around the object then snapping seems to work okay at first (in 2D projection) but I find that there is an offset in 3D when I move the view around again. It seems I can get true 3D snapping to work only if I use the original view orientation that the curve was drawn in. However, it seems once that if fails, I can't seem to get it to work right again. Seems as if once there in an offset introduced, I can't seem to get rid of it.
