Olaf,
you might want to try the EC2 instance of Magnolia [1] and do an apt-get
install php5 on it as well (apache will run php, tomcat runs magnolia,
apache is configured as a reverse proxy to show tomcat) - we use this
setup on some of our sites. If you need to get some information from
masgnolia into php it seems to be easiest to do this over a subtemplate
and xml. The swissroots application on facebook integrates that way [3]
Also, you can install [2] and then add php.
I prefer running php on apache, not in the java contanier.
